To all my readers,
I hope your day is going well. Today I'm unveiling a new feature on the blog or should I say a new old feature. I used to write stories for a dollar back in my Providence days and I'm bringing it back. It's called 'STORY FOR A DOLLAR'
This was always popular with people I met in the city. My writing routine is a simple one - find a cafe/bookstore/eatery that will let me sit for a few hours and write - and produce several installments of the story. During my time out on the town, many people ask me what I'm doing, what I'm writing. Instead of simply stopping and explaining - I chose to include new people in the writing process.
What exactly is - Story for a Dollar?
For the price of one dollar I will write a serial installment of my Ella story - including you in the story in whatever way you desire. The story will be approximately 500 words in length and I will post it/e-mail to you.
For those that want to have a keep-sake, I will offer to print, sign, and mail the installment to you for a small fee (cost of postage).
So, to all the readers out there - who wants to be in an installment of 'Story for a Dollar'? Tell me on social media or simply purchase the product in my marketplace.
Purchase STORY FOR A DOLLAR!
Story for a Dollar now available in handwritten version on ELLA Branded Stationary.
Come one and all!

Good afternoon from Moran Publishing. I'm hard at work on the next novel, The Butcher of Vegas - and Marielle is hard at work trying to nail down a cover.
This is her latest attempt. What do you think of this? Could this represent 'The Butcher of Vegas'? Tell me your thoughts in the comments or just message me or email me at StephenJohnMoran@Gmail.com
Greetings from Las Vegas,
I'm writing today at the bookstore Books or Books in Las Vegas.
The purpose of this post is to speak to the hordes of indie artists out there struggling to market their art/reach an audience.
The question of the day - What are YOU doing to stand out in the crowd?
Seems most indies I meet spam their product links across social media.
BUY MY BOOK!!! The indies yell into the internet.
It doesn't work. Not anymore and I don't know if it ever did. Today consumers have millions of entertainment choices and simply making your art available online isn't enough. You must do something to cut through the mass of books/music/art people can buy/download or interact with.
What am I doing to stand out? Glad you ask that question.
I'm at the bookstore meeting readers and talking with them, shaking hands. I ask them what works - what gets their attention. I also ask what doesn't work. Talk to the readers and they will answer.
My advice is to be unique. You must be different and memorable to stand out from the maddening amount of choices in consumable art available in today's marketplace. Amazon sells MILLIONS of books.
One way I attempt to stand out is my 'Story for a Dollar' series. While I'm at a bookstore working on the next novel - I also offer to write a micro story of 500 words set in the world of my novels - priced at one dollar. You can see in the picture in this post an installment I wrote for the owner of Books or Books - which featured the store itself! Personalizing your attempts to gain exposure instead of simply doing the same thing as every other artist out there is how to break the ice with readers.
Be unique. Don't just follow the crowd off the cliff of obscurity. If you make an impression with readers, the sales will follow.
Thank you for reading and please comment and share this post if you feel so inclined.

Welcome to readers and visitors of the website!
Today I want to talk about an area of books that doesn't get a lot of press in today's environment dominated by e-book strategies and marketing.
How and where is an indie author/small publisher to sell paperback fiction in today's business environment?
Most every blog post and article I read focuses on how to market e-books and how to distribute fiction online. However, what about the old fashioned physical book - the paperback novel? What does an author do to sell paperbacks?
In my publishing journey, I focused my attention, like many I know, on online efforts. So very many authors told me I wouldn't sell many paperbacks and therefore nobody had much in the way of a strategy for an indie to sell physical books. Other than getting a book into a store of some type, which can be a difficult proposition, what is an indie to do?
I didn't have a paperback strategy and when I created the paperback version of the Ella novel, I intended it to be a collector's edition of sorts - just for hardcore fans that would want a high-quality, art-house type version of the book. This version of the book has been wildly more popular than the e-book. The biggest problem for me - how to get this book into the hands of more readers?
Where does an indie author go to sell a paperback? It's almost impossible to get the book into a bookstore and even then, it's only a sell a few copies at a time. I believe there is a market for readers left out in the cold by the disappearance of chain bookstores, but how to capitalize?
I'd love to hear the ideas of the community. I know a new way forward must be out there, ready to be uncovered. Tell me what you think in the comments or message me at StephenJohnMoran@gmail.com
Thanks for your time and attention. Have a great afternoon.

Greg Roch was part of the indie group Grey Sandford Band, touring the Rhode Island area for years before continuing on as a solo act after the group disbanded. I'm pleased to present this selection of songs, which are for sale at iTunes, Amazon and other online retailers. You can also purchase the songs for download directly from the embedded music player I'm including in this post. Patronize the indie music scene and I hope you enjoy the music!!!
